Privacy Policy

The short version: the tools on this site process everything inside your browser, so we never receive your files or text. The long version follows.

Last updated: 2026-09-05

The principle behind this policy

Shah Khan Tools is built so that we do not need your data. Every tool on this site runs as JavaScript inside your own browser. When you use the image compressor, the JSON formatter, the BMI calculator or any of the other 32 tools, the processing happens on your device, and the content you put in is never transmitted to us or to anyone else.

That is not a promise about how carefully we guard a database. It is a statement about architecture: there is no database of your content to guard, because your content never arrives. You can confirm this by opening your browser's developer tools, selecting the network tab, and using any tool on the site — after the page finishes loading, no further request carrying your data is made.

Information we do not collect

We do not collect, store, transmit or process any of the following: files you open with our image tools; text you type or paste into any tool; code you paste into the JSON formatter or minifier; URLs you shorten or encode; dates of birth, heights, weights, salaries, loan amounts or any other value entered into a calculator; or the output any tool produces.

We do not operate user accounts, so we hold no email addresses, passwords, names or profile information from tool usage. There is nothing to sign up for and no login on this site.

Information that is collected automatically

Like virtually every website, our hosting provider records standard server logs when a page is requested. These typically include your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, the page requested, the referring page and a timestamp. This information is used to keep the site running, diagnose faults and detect abuse such as automated scraping or denial-of-service attempts.

We may use a privacy-respecting analytics service to understand which pages are visited and how the site performs. Where analytics are used, they are configured to record aggregate page-level information only — no cross-site tracking, no user profiles and no attempt to identify individual visitors.

Local storage in your browser

Some parts of the site remember small preferences using your browser's local storage. Your choice of dark or light theme is stored this way, as is the link history in the URL shortener. This data lives in your browser on your device only. It is never transmitted to us, never synchronised between your devices and never shared with anyone.

You can clear it at any time through your browser's settings for site data, or through the clear buttons that individual tools provide. Doing so has no effect other than resetting those preferences.

Cookies and advertising

This site is funded by advertising served through Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure advertisements, including on the basis of your prior visits to this and other websites.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings at adssettings.google.com. You can also opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising at optout.aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.com.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this website. We do not control these cookies and cannot read what they contain. Importantly, advertising partners have no access to anything you enter into a tool, because that information never reaches our servers in the first place.

You can disable cookies entirely in your browser settings. The tools on this site will continue to work normally; you may simply see less relevant advertising.

Third-party services

The site loads web fonts from Google Fonts, which involves a request to Google's servers that includes your IP address and browser information. No other third-party service receives data as a normal part of using the site.

The YouTube thumbnail tool loads images directly from YouTube's public image servers, which means YouTube receives a request from your browser for those images. No other information about you is shared with it by us.

External links on this site point to websites we do not control. Their privacy practices are their own, and we recommend reading the privacy policy of any site you visit.

Children's privacy

This site is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the tools do not collect personal information from anyone, there is very little scope for this to arise, but if you believe a child has provided personal information to us in some way, please contact us and we will act promptly.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, data protection law may give you rights over personal data held about you — including rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

In practice, we hold almost nothing that identifies you. There are no accounts, no stored tool content and no user profiles. If you would like to exercise a right in relation to server log data, contact us using the details below and we will respond within the time limit that applies in your jurisdiction — normally 30 days.

Data security

The site is served exclusively over HTTPS, so the connection between your browser and our server is encrypted. The strongest security measure on this site, though, is structural rather than technical: content that is never transmitted cannot be intercepted, leaked in a breach, subpoenaed or sold. That is the main reason the tools are built the way they are.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes to the site or to legal requirements. Material changes will be reflected in the effective date shown below, and significant changes will be noted on the site. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
